Criminal Defense From A Former Prosecutor

Nurse's Aid Accused of Cyberstalking Kris Jenner

In August of this year a nurse's assistant from the Bay Area was arrested by FBI special agents after she was accused of cyberstalking Kardashian matriarch, Kris Jenner.

36-year-old Christina Elizabeth Bankston had allegedly sent hundreds of illicit and threatening text messages to Jenner, her family members, and two assistants between March 9, 2014 and September 5, 2014. One of the messages prompted Jenner to all in extra security one night because Bankston was "tracking" her. Another taunted that Jenner could try to find her, but she would never be able to do so.

It is alleged that Bankston impersonated Jenner on several occasions and that Bankston tried to coerce Jenner into taking naked pictures of herself. She is also being accused of hacking into Jenner's personal Instagram and iCloud accounts.

Bankston Denies Cyberstalking Jenner

In September 2016 Bankston pleaded not guilty in Los Angeles to all federal charges. She is being charged with 15 federal counts including stalking, aggravated identity theft computer hacking and extortion by threat.

If convicted, Bankston faces up to five years in federal prison for each cyberstalking and computer hacking offense. For aggravated identity theft she faces a two year consecutive sentence.

What to Do If You Have Been Accused of Cyberstalking

If you have been accused of cyberstalking or learn that the police are investigating you, do not:

  • Try to communicate with the alleged victim about the case or have any contact with the alleged victim whatsoever
  • Speak with law enforcement or any other investigators without having a criminal defense attorney present
  • Provide evidence to law enforcement without consulting an attorney (even if you believe that your evidence will prove your innocence)

Retaining a Professional Criminal Defense Attorney

Being charged with an Internet crime should not be taken lightly. In many cases it has been found that innocent individuals are being framed by true cyberstalkers after they have downloaded a virus or have unknowingly become a victim of identity theft or phishing.

The Kestenbaum Law Group has over three decades of experience in protecting the lives of individuals here in the Los Angeles. Having previously worked as a prosecutor and now working as a criminal defense attorney, David Kestenbaum has unique insight into every case he receives and will work tirelessly to uphold your rights.
