Property crimes projected to be down in a lot of SoCal in 2017

Much of Southern California might see fewer property crimes this year, according to a recent report. The report is from researchers from the University of California, Irvine.

The report made predictions regarding what property crime levels would be like this year in the various cities in this region. For the purposes of these projections, “property crimes” include burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft. A variety of different factors and data were looked at in making the projections.

The report predicted that nearly four-fifths of cities in Southern California will see a drop in property crimes in 2017. It projected the average level of the decrease to be 11 percent.

As a note, property crimes weren’t the only type of crime the report predicted will see a drop. An even bigger decrease (both in the cities it will occur in and the average level of the decrease) has been predicted for violent crimes.

One wonders if the report’s projections regarding property crimes will prove true. If they do, it will be interesting to see what impacts a drop in such crimes in many of the region’s cities has on the region in general and on law enforcement tactics in the region.

Property crime charges come in a range of varieties here in California. So, when a person is accused of a theft/property offense in Southern California, a lot of different things can dictate what exactly they are facing. Understanding one’s specific legal situation (including what consequences their case could have for their life and future) can be critical when facing such accusations. Skilled defense attorneys can help property crime suspects get the information they need to get this picture, and can assist them throughout the various stages of their defense.
